SEOUL, Mar. 12 (Yonhap) -- “The Batman,” originated from DC Comics, is having a close game with the film “In Our Prime” starring Choi Min-sik in the S. Korean box office during the weekend.
According to the data from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) on Mar. 11, “In Our Prime,” which attracted 75,000 people(33.2% of sales) on Mar.9, the first day of its release, maintained the first place in the box office with 16,000 more viewers(34.1%) the next day.
The film is a human drama that depicts the story of Hak-sung(Choi Min-sik), a genius mathematician from N. Korea who works as a security guard at a private high school in a way to shut himself off from the past, teaching math to Ji-woo(Kim Dong-hwi), who gave up studying math.
“The Batman” starring Robert Pattinson ranked No.2 for two consecutive days, following “In Our Prime.” It each drew 62,000(29.9%) and 13,000(31.2%) viewers on Mar. 9 and Mar. 10. The film reached 622,000 cumulative viewers.
The live ticket sales for “The Batman” was 28.6% on Friday morning, beating “In Our Prime”(20.0%). However, the number of reserved tickets remained at 26,000 and 18,000, respectively.
"Spencer” starring Kristen Stewart, which will be released on Mar. 16, is currently ranking No. 3 with 10% of ticket sales, beating the movies in theaters. The disaster blockbuster "Moonfall," which will be released on the same day, ranked No. 4 in the box office.
