K-character Pinkfong to celebrate 10th anniversary

SEOUL, September 5 (Yonhap) -- South Korean character Pinkfong which is familiar to parents with young children will be celebrating its 10th birthday on September 10.

Using Pinkfong’s cute and childlike characteristic it has expanded its field of business through media industries including YouTube, TV animations, Theater and more. Moreover Pinkfong laid the foundation which Baby shark and Bebefinn were able use to expand the Pinkfong company’s mega intellectual property.

According to the Pinkfong Company on Monday, the character Pinkfong debuted on September 6 in 2012 as soon as the logo and the name of the character were decided. Pinkfong was The Pinkfong Company’s first hit character.

With the vibrant Pink colored skin, innocent smile, crown and star shaped necklace, Pinkfong appeared in front of the public while saying his catch phrase “Alley-oop!.”

Representative of the Pinkfong Company, stated that “In order to add little bit more of mischievous characteristic we decided to use the fox like figure as the character.” adding “To help out the character to solidify its sanding ground we have decided to create out character in Magenta. Also by adding the phrase Pinkpong! Logo It appealed its existence to the public.

Pinkfong’s design continued on changing throughout the 10 years of its existence.

In the beginning the character had the look of mischievous fox, as time progressed it shifted its shape to look more like a human fitting for the 3D video.

“By shifting its shape to be more friendly and cute, it added features that will be loved throughout the public.” adding “Longer legs and arms gave more realistic look to the dance moves and it was much easier for kids to mimic the dance.” announced the representative of the Pinkfong Company.

In order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Pinkfong, the company will be showcasing the celebration video and ad various contents to the application related to celebration of the anniversary.

◇ The opening logo surpasses 60 billion views, and the character collaborates with various industries such as food, home appliances and more.

Other than the Youtube videos, the character Pinkfong is continuing on with its career through animation “Pinkfong Wonderstar” which was broadcasted through the South Korean broadcasting services KBS 2TV, Netflix animation movie “Pinkfong Cinema Concert: Space Adventure” which managed to place within the top 10 chart of Netflix within 18 different countries and more.

Animations series were provided not only in Korean but also in Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Russian for its global viewers. As the COVID era comes to an end The Pinkfong company is working on a movie with a brand new plot.

Fame of Pinkfong continued on with the fame through “Baby Shark Dance” video featuring addicting melody and lyrics by exceeding over 10 billion views for the first time in the history of YouTube and Bebe Finn.

Since every contents, for YouTube, application music and more created by The Pinkfong Company uses logo featuring Pinkfong it is taking a very important role as one of the main Intellectual property of the company. Total view count of the YouTube videos created with the Pinkfong logo has surpassed 60 billion views.

The company Smart Study which originally created the character Pinkfong has changed its name as The Pinkfong Company in January of 2022.
