"This stage will be the farewell stage for 'Good Day'" states S.Korean singer songwriter IU

SEOUL September 19 (Yonhap) -- “Today marks 14thh anniversary of my debut as a singer, I feel very lucky to be able to perform a concert on a perfect day while celebrating my anniversary. “

On the night of September 18, a giant screen has been place in the Olympic Main Stadium. In front of those screen appeared South Korean singer IU, who turned 30 in Korean age. Fans of IU painted the stadium brightly with chant stick specifically designed for IU.

The title of the concert which S.Korean singer songwriter IU celebrated her 14th anniversary of debut at the stage where artists often times dream of performing, Olympic Main Stadium, is called “The Golden Hour : Under the Orange Sun.”

South Korean artist IU appeared on to the stage through a spitted screen on a harness shaped like a swing covered in flowers performing the track “Eight” which is produced by SUGA from K-pop super group BTS, in mid air. After performing “Eight”, she continued on with her concert with “Celebrity,” “Hold my hand” and her numerous hit songs.

IU debut dates back to September 18, in 2008, where she appeared on to the stage of South Korean music program.

Continuing on with her career, IU released her mega hit tracks “Good Day,” and “U and I” which awarded her with the title of being the national younger sister. Later on the artist released continuous hit tracks such as “Palette,” and “Celebrity” which lead her to the position of the most successful female singer songwriter within their 20. Starting from home theater to red carpet event at Cannes Film Festival, IU has successful acting career as well.

“Today was a very hot and humid day, therefore I was worried that it would be rough for my fans, however, I wanted to sing Eight during the sunset, I have been planning this out for months, and I am glad today’s sky was as beautiful as I have expected. “ described IU throughout her concert.

When the artist faced unexpected technical difficulty with her in ear monitor she calmly continued on singing, after her performance she gently chuckled while stating “I continued on singing without my in ear monitor due to technical difficulties, I felt left alone on stage, however, I came to a realization that all of my fans are chanting and cheering me on very loudly. It was an unexpected outcome.”

Track “Meaning of You” known for its heartwarming acoustic melody line lead the crowd to cheer enthusiastically. When the singer IU lead her fans to sing throughout her performance by stating “It’s your turn to sing, 3,2,1” over 43thousand audiences continued on singing the track.

Audiences sang the song when the artist held her microphone towards her fans while performing the track “Let’s meet on Friday.”

Olympic Main Stadium which is able to hold over 50 thousand audience is granted access to performers with profound reputation. That is because a thought came to my mind, that I don’t need to continue on with the track.” adding “Therefore this will be the last concert I will be singing ‘Pallet’ as part of an official set list.” IU described on why she is excluding “Pallet” from her official set list.

When performing her hit track “Strawberry Moon” IU went around the Olympic Main Stadium in a hot air balloon greeting her audience.

Like the lyrics from her track “Strawberry Moon” IU’s performance of performing while flying on a hot air balloon reminded the audience with princess Jasmine from Disney animation Aladdin.

“I wanted to interact with the audiences in second and third floor therefore I decided to get on a hot air balloon, shaped like a strawberry moon.” adding “During the run through it was way too scary therefore I thought of canceling the hot air balloon performance, however now that I think about it, it was a great idea to perform on a hot air balloon.” smiled IU while looking back at time she spent preparing for the concert.

Throughout her performance of “Good Day” IU showcased her ability to raise three octaves throughout the climax of the song. When she hit the highest note of the track fireworks went off and the atmosphere of the concert heated up.

However, “Good Day” which led IU to the stardom as a K-pop artist will be removed from the official set list from now on.

IU looked back in the days where she performed “Good Day” and stated “This is considerably one of the biggest hit songs throughout my career as a musician, therefore I have a lot of memories related to this track, from now it will be hard to see the tack ‘Good Day’ within the official set list from now on. Memories of me performing this song are flooding in right now.”

Artist performed over 20 tracks including “Lilac,” “Hibernation,” “Only I didn’t Know,” showing her ability to sing and dance as a all rounded artist fitting the title of the concert “Gold Hour.” ,

Despite of blazing weather, numerous fans lined up for the concert starting very early. In celebration of IU’s concert which is being held in three years since her last concert in 2019, fans wore purple clothes which represents IU, and waited in line to take photos at a photo booth located around the Olympic Main Stadium.
