SEOUL, December 27 (Yonhap) -- Inje-gun Cultural Foundation gets ready for the Inje Smelt Festival , the main winter festival as the weather becomes intensely cold.
The smelt lake upstream of the Soyanggang Dam in Bupyeong-ri, Nam-myeon, is freezing smoothly due to the cold weather that continues day after day according to the foundation on December 26.
The foundation predicts that the minimum temperature will remain below minus 10 degrees Celsius for a considerable period of time, and that preparations for the festival will not be disrupted.
The 23rd Inje Smelt Festival will be held for 10 days from January 20 to 29 of 2023 in the area of the Icefish Lake.
The festival was canceled twice due to COVID-19 and it is held after 3 years.
Various harmony events for Inje residents and local soldiers will be held, including ice sledding, snow sledding, four-wheel motorcycles ATV, ice soccer competitions, and winter Sudden Attack competitions at the backdrop of the snow scene around the festival.
