SEOUL, December 1 (Yonhap) -- A rich December festival is being held in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, where there was no winter festival, and it is gaining a lot of attention whether it will succeed or not.

Winter festival in Gangneung starts off on December 9 with the "2022 Gangneung Wine Festival" which was postponed due to the Itaewon tragedy.
The Wine Festival which will continue until December 12 will be held at the Wolhwa Street, where the Jungang Market, a spot well known to the visitors. is located.
This is the first Gangneung Wine Festival.
Visitors will be able to spend their year end drinking wine with all the foods at the Jungang market.

The event will not only have cooking shows for Gangneung specialties noodles starting from the dough till the dish is ready, but also have a live cooking show of famous chefs, and samples of noodles from different countries.
Making a huge Handpulled Dough Soup event will be held during the opening ceremony as an official event.
In addition, various side events such as a free tasting of own noodle dish, pulling out noodles fast and a fast-eating mukbang show will also be held.
An official from Gangneung City said, "We planned for this festival as many tourists visiting Gangneung are looking for local restaurants related to noodles."
The "2022 Gangneung Christmas Winter Festival," which opened on November 27 with the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, will continue for 43 days until January 8 of 2023 in Wolhwa Street, Anmok Beach, and Yeongok-myeon in Gangneung.
The festival is held under the theme "Happy Gangneung, Christmas Gangneung," and as a festival which delivers happiness promoting Gangneung as a city people want to visit.
The organizers plan to make Gangneung a famous winter tourist destination through Christmas festivals with citizens and tourists.
Wolhwa Street, the festival venue, decorated Gangneung bright with street lights, including a festival gate, a 500-meter snowflake banner tunnel, a large decorative tree and an armed tree, and a 350-meter Milky Way tunnel.
