GAPYEONG, Oct. 2 (Yonhap) -- The organizers of the Jarasum Jazz Festival announced Saturday that they have confirmed 19 performance teams to be on stage this year.

The festival, which marks its 18th anniversary this year, will be held at Jarasum Island and Music Village 1939 in Gapyeong County, between Nov. 5-7, a month delayed from the original schedule due to the spread of COVID-19.

Last year, the jazz festival was conducted online for the first time in history due to the pandemic, but this time, it will be held on an offline stage.

This year's festival will highlight Korea's fusion jazz through the performances of musicians Kim Hyeon-cheol and Jeong Won-yeong and showcase a new jazz stage combined of various music genres with singers Sunwoo Jung-a and Bada, former member of girl group SES.

In addition, Park Joo-won, who is considered the best guitarist in Korea, will show the essence of gypsy music while worldwide genius pianist Cho Yoon-sung will present a stage to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Argentina's tango master Astor Piazzolla.

South Korean Alternative pop band Leenalchi, which caused a sensation by reinterpreting pansori (traditional Korean music genre) in a modern way with the song "Tiger is Coming," will also participate and prepare a special tribute stage to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the song "Morning Dew."

In order to help audiences meet overseas musicians due to COVID-19, the festival will introduce Polish and Singapore jazz through live videos.

The organizers also presented motion posters suitable for this year's festival. The performers, who look very still in the poster, seem to come to life and perform jazz songs.

Designed to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and the Netherlands, rising Dutch artist Jordy van Den Nieuwendijk participated in the poster production.
