SEOUL, Jan. 25 (Yonhap) – South Korean girl group Red Velvet now has their own million-seller hit album: The group’s EP “The ReVe Festival 2022 - Birthday” sold over a million copies, according to the group’s agency SM Entertainment.
Released on Nov. 28, 2022, the EP sold 1,029,463 copies as of Jan. 20.
The EP marks the first million-seller hit album of the quintet since their debut. The album sold 712,187 copies only through pre-orders, which was another record-breaker for the group.
The EP consists of five songs -- "Birthday," "Bye Bye," "On A Ride," "Zoom" and "Celebrate."
The title track is a pop-dance song based on an impressive trap rhythm, with rhythmical drums and a refreshing synth sound. Its lyrics are about a girl who confesses her feelings for her love interest, saying, "Each day of your life will be as fun as a birthday if you are with me."
Red Velvet, which made a debut in 2014, consists of 5 members: Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri.
