SEOUL, July 1 (Yonhap) – Samsung Electronics released a service that allows users to enjoy streaming games on smart TVs without a separate game console.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 1st that they started “Samsung Gaming Hub,” a streaming game platform connecting to service in smart TVs and smart monitors for 2022 model, including Neo QLED 8K.

Users can enjoy diverse streaming games that have partnered with Samsung Electronics through smart TVs and monitors without separate downloading or linking it to game console, as they use video streaming service applications on smartphones.

Game streaming services that are supported in the country through Samsung Gaming Hub include “Xbox Game Pass” and “GeForce NOW.”

In particular, Samsung Electronics is the first to support a popular subscription game service “Xbox Game Pass” in TV industries.

Users who subscribe to the service can enjoy about 100 cloud games at smart TV, including “Forza Horizon 5,” “Halo Infinite,” “Cyberpunk 2077.”

Since game streaming platforms such as Google Stadia and Utomik have not started the service in the country yet, they are not provided at Samsung Smart TV, but in countries where services are operating, users can enjoy games through Samsung Smart TV.

Samsung Electronics explained that users can easily enjoy streaming games via TV at home as long as internet is available to use over-the-top media service (OTT) such as Netflix.

Samsung Electronics is planning to expand and apply gaming hub services in Smart TV models of last year by the end of this year, and sequentially expand services to models below.

Lee Won-jin, the chief director of Samsung Electronics’ video display division, said, “Samsung Gaming Hub is created by combining Samsung Electronics’ matchless TV technology and game contents in cooperation of global partners,” adding, “We will expand partnerships with major game service providers and develop customized functions and services so that users can easily enjoy a variety of games."
