SEOUL, Feb. 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actor Yoo Ah-in, whose real name is Uhm Hong-sik, has also tested positive for the anesthetic drug, propofol, adding to his earlier charges of dosing another illegal drug marijuana.

The recent probe into the actor’s drug use was initiated after the Ministry of Food and Drugs requested that the police investigate a total of 51 people suspected of illegal drug use.

Among the suspects, there was Uhm Hong-sik, which turned out to be Yoo. The police then summoned and tested Yoo’s urine and hair samples as he entered Korea through the Incheon International Airport on Feb. 5 back from his trip to the U.S., which then came back positive only for marijuana and not for propofol.

However, through detailed analysis of his hair sample by the National Forensic Service, the actor also tested positive for propofol in addition to marijuana.

In regards to the recent reports that the actor tested positive for another drug substance, the artist’s agency UAA stated, “We have inquired the police several times about the reports that were publicized online. However, we have only heard the answer that ‘We can not tell you yet’ even until this morning,” adding, “We ask for your understanding that we cannot arbitrarily reveal our position based only on media reports in the absence of any official report from the police.”

The agency also wrote, “We have not yet received any further notice on the schedule for future investigations, but we will faithfully cooperate and receive investigation as soon as the schedule is set.”
