SEOUL, Mar. 11 (Yonhap) -- K-pop chart supremo BLACKPINK has won the title of being the most-streamed female band on Spotify on Guinness World Records, the group’s agency YG Entertainment confirmed Saturday.
Per Guinness World Records, all songs released by the quartet recorded 8.88 billion streams on Spotify as of Mar. 3, and the massive supergroup beat out previous titleholders Little Mix, a British girl group that scored 8.4 billion streams.
BLACKPINK has been doing some big numbers on Spotify and even reached the milestone of becoming the very first K-pop act to top the global week chart with “Shut Down,” the title track of the group’s second LP. The quartet now has exceeded 38 million followers on the app.
The cultural giant has now set its 20th Guiness record throughout its music career, including the artist with the most YouTube subscribers, the first K-pop female group to reach No. 1 on the U.K. and U.S. albums charts.
