SEOUL, May 8 (Yonhap) -- NewJeans member Hyein will be absent from official activities for the new single "How Sweet" due to a foot injury.
According to their agency ADOR on the 8th, they announced on the fan community platform Weverse that "Hyein will not participate in official activities for the single 'How Sweet,' including music broadcasts and performances, and will focus on rest and recovery."
ADOR stated that Hyein was diagnosed with a minor fracture in her foot during practice last month and has since suspended her schedule to focus on treatment and recovery.
The agency added, "We received advice from medical professionals to minimize movements that could strain her foot," and "Hyein will participate flexibly in schedules other than music broadcasts and performances based on her condition and medical advice."
They concluded by saying, "We will do our best to ensure that Hyein can return to her healthy state and be with her fans again."

The announcement came amid the ongoing conflict over control between Min Hee-jin, the CEO of ADOR, and its parent label, Hybe. Some fans of NewJeans, known as "Bunnies," staged a truck protest in front of Hybe's headquarters in Yongsan-gu earlier the same day.
The fans expressed messages such as "Bernies support and endorse NewJeans, not Hybe," and "Bernies hope for NewJeans with CEO Min Hee-jin."
NewJeans is gearing up for a domestic comeback on the 24th with their new single "How Sweet."
