SEOUL, Aug. 21 (Yonhap) -- Song Joong-ki and Chun Woo-hee will reunite after more than a decade to portray a poignant first love story. The production company High Zium Studio announced on the 21st that the two actors have been cast in the drama My Youth, scheduled to air sometime next year.
My Youth tells the romance between Sun Woo-hae, a man who starts living an ordinary life later than others, and Sung Jae-yeon, a woman who must disrupt the tranquility of her first love in pursuit of success.
Song Joong-ki will play Sun Woo-hae, a novelist and florist. Once a famous child actor, Sun Woo-hae gradually faded from public memory and began living a second life in a new role, leaving behind his acting career.
Chun Woo-hee will portray Sung Jae-yeon, a team leader at Phil Entertainment, who is solely focused on success. Raised in a wealthy family with no worries, her life takes a sharp turn when her family suddenly falls into ruin, forcing her to live more fiercely than anyone else. In her quest to achieve her goals, she seeks out Sun Woo-hae after more than ten years. As she reconnects with him, memories of her pure, innocent past begin to resurface, leading to a transformation.
The drama is helmed by director Lee Sang-yeop of Yumi’s Cells and Familiar Wife, and written by Park Shi-hyun, the writer of Run On. The specific broadcasting platform has not yet been announced.
