SEOUL, Mar. 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korean trot singer Song Ga-in has reprised her role as the face of the Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation in succession to last year.

During the re-appointment ceremony held at Seoul’s Korean House on Wednesday, Song said, “I will put my utmost effort to promote the Foundation so that more people could enjoy our traditional culture this year.”

The 36-year-old singer will participate in various events organized and carried out by the Foundation, including a national tour “Let’s Go See the Gut,” which had its very first performance in 2004, as well as a history talk show aired at a cultural heritage channel that introduces information on the Korean cultural heritage.

Choi Young-chang, chairman of the Foundation, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I cannot feel more assured than I do now as Song Ga-in has been at the forefront promoting our traditional culture in such a time when K-content is drawing ever-growing attention globally.”

Song made herself known by appearing and winning TV Chosun’s very first trot audition show “Miss Trot” in 2019.

She, who also majored in pansori, Korean traditional music, made her debut as a trot singer with her debut single “Mountain wind, River wind” in 2012. She then plucked to stardom with her mournful voice and powerful delivery.
