SEOUL, Nov. 16 (Yonhap) -- The largest Game exhibition in Korea "G-STAR 2022" will kick off at Busan BEXCO on Thursday.
The expectation is building since this is the first event in three years after COVID-19 and participating large game companies are releasing new games.
Korea Association of Game Industry who hosts G-STAR announced on Wednesday that 2,947 booths from 987 companies and from total of 43 countries are participating G-STAR 2022, which will take place until Nov. 20.
The slogan is "The Gaming Universe, once again into the world of gaming."
This year's event will be held in much larger scale compared to that of last year (638 companies, 1,393 booths), which were held with limitation due to COVID-19.
Major domestic game companies such as Neowiz [095660], Nexon Korea, Netmarble [251270], Wemade [112040], Kakao Games [293490], and Krafton [259960] will be displaying their new games targeting the global market at BTC (Business-To-Consumer trading) booths in BEXCO exhibition halls 1 and 2.
Among large foreign game companies, Level Infinite, Epic Games, and Hoyo Bus opened booths BTC.
In the BTB (Business-to-Business) hall, several small and medium-sized businesses will participate through communal hall such as Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, Gyeonggi Content Agency, and Daejeon Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency. Also, the ASEAN-Korea Center, the Canadian Embassy in Korea, Xsolla, and the Swedish Trade and Investment Representative will also hold booths.
Governments and personnel from game business will also visit the area.
Culture minister Park Bo-gyoon and Vice minister for culture Jeon Byeong-geun will participate the ceremony of "Korea Game Awards," which is held as the eve festival.
The head of the Game Association (Chairman of the G-Star Organizing Committee) Kang Shin-cheol, the mayor of Busan Park Hyung-joon , and CEOs of major game companies will attend the opening ceremony to congratulate the successful opening.
At the main conference held for two days from the opening day, officials from famous domestic and foreign game production companies such as WeMade CEO Jang Hyun-guk, LINE Games director Jin Seung-ho, Capcom producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, and Quantic Dream CEO David Cage will give lectures to share their experiences and visions.
For two-day weekend, recruitment fair for game business including "Game Job Concert" and "eSport Competition, Game Conference Contest" will take place.
The host paid special attention to the safety supervision as the attention to the crowded formation has been raised due to Itaewon crowd crush.
They will separate the entrance of online pre-bookers and the time of onsite ticket selling time, and control the road between the ticket exchange booth and BEXCO during the event period.
The entrance will also be controlled depending on how crowded the event hall is and man force will be located at predicted bottleneck areas for emergency.
The Organizing Committee announced that a total of 550 people, including safety and site operation personnel, as well as man-force from Busan City, organizers, and police and fire, will make effort for safe environment.
