SEOUL, Nov. 6 (Yonhap) -- Trot singer Young Tak has denied his involvement in the recent sajaegi of his song, “Why Are You Coming Out From There” saying that he didn’t even know that it had happened.
“The speculation reported the press that I was aware of the case is not true. I have already gone through investigation and found innocent,” posted the singer on his fan café, according to the entertainment scene Saturday.
Lee Jae-kyu head of the singer’s agency, Milagro, has been sent to the prosecutor for having manipulated the streaming record of Young-Tak’s 2019-released song “Why Are You Coming Out From There.”
The case became a great shock as there were rumors that ‘sajaegi’ happens commonly in the music industry, but this is the first confirmed case. Some people suspect that Young-Tak may have been aware of the crime as well.
The speculation gained strength as some media reported that the singer sent an empathizing emoticon to a photo of a monitor that seems to be showing the very site of manipulating the streaming record.
But, Young Tak denied the speculation saying, “I actually felt pathetic at the manager sending me a photo of a monitor when he is supposed to be working offline. So, I just sent a meaningless emoticon. I didn’t even imagine it was showing an illegal streaming manipulation.”
“I found out about the incident in February last year when CEO Lee and that manager had a little argument. At the time, the head executive explained the whole process to me feeling sorry and told me that he seems to have been tricked. Frankly, I was angry at the fact that they didn’t even ask me before acting,” added the singer.
“I should have been more aware of myself. I regret not having done so and am so sorry.”
The CEO also said, “The case was done by me only” adding that the singer wasn’t aware of the incident.
