SEOUL, Mar. 3 (Yonhap) -- The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art(MMCA) announced on Mar. 5 that it selected JOHO Architecture(Lee Jeong-hoon)’s “Garden in Time” as the winning work of “MMCA Gwacheon Project 2022.”

MMCA Gwacheon Project is a spatial regeneration project launched by MMCA last year, and it makes collaborations with creators in various fields and plans for Gwacheon’s general renewal, where it will be transformed into a space that provides artistic experience, in time for the museum’s 40th anniversary in 2026.

Last year, the bus stops around the museum were renovated as “Art Bus Shelters,” while the museum’s rooftop space will be renovated artistically and ecologically this year.

The winning work "Garden in Time" is a large structure of open canopy that consists of numerous pipes. The museum explained that it will reconstruct the rooftop space into a new space where the genuine art corresponds with nature.

The installation artwork can be found at the outdoor rooftop garden on the third floor of MMCA from May 5.
