SEOUL April 21 (Yonhap) -- Gangjin town located within, South Jeolla province, addressed on April 21 that it will host various stage incorporating unique genres of performances every Wednesday to spread the brand and awareness of the idea of "Music City Gangjin."
The "five senses walk with music concert" (literal translation) will be held every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the outdoor concert hall, Ogamtong until June.
In total of 18 teams will perform under 8 various genres, including musician magic and performance (Teddy, and more.), dance (Burning Up, Old & New), tango (Unexpected Tango), K-pop (Choi Na-ri, etc.), K-pop classic (Ensemble Bonnie), acoustic, blues (Mind Body and Soul), tap dance and jazz (Bohemian).
Mind Body and Soul, a four-member blues band which will take the stage on May 31, is globally known team with excellent set of skills who recently represented South Korea at the 2023 International Blues Competition held in Memphis, U.S. earlier this year.
The stages being held on May 3 and 24 are organized solely by the local musicians themselves, from the planning stage to actual performances.
The main purpose the event is to develop self-sustaining power by supporting local music artists.
A county official addressed, "As an early stage of finding the rightful answer to the question of 'What kind of music city do I want to live in?' We prepared high-quality performances from various genres to ask 'What kind of music do you guys like?'"
Gangjin town will hold the Five Sensory Youth Festival for teenagers and MZ generations starting on May 6.
