Biden appoints actor Daniel Dae Kim as Asian commissioner

SEOUL, Dec. 21 (Yonhap) -- U.S President Joe Biden has appointed commissioners to the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI) on the 20th (U.S time).

The commissioners representing each ethnic group will advise the president on the community’s policies within the public and private sectors.

For Korean Americans, actor Daniel Dae Kim, who gained popularity through dram “Lost,” has been appointed as one of the commissioners.

The actor has been actively showing up in Hollywood and Broadway and taking part in social activities such as serving as co-chair of The Asian American Foundation (TAAF).

Another Korean American, lawyer Kevin Kim was the first Korean to have entered the New York City Council. The Stanford University graduator advanced to Colombia Law School and has been working as a lawyer and a businessman.

Sarah Min, a former media executive, has consulted for HBO and Penguin Random House. She also been deeply linked with grassroots organizations such as nonprofit for non-whites and the Korean American Community Foundation, the White House released.
