'Pokemon Go' successfully guards its place for two consecutive months with highest monthly active users

SEOUL, August 9 (Yonhap) -- Huge success of "Pokemon Bread" in South Korea lead the intellectual property based mobile game “Pokemon Go” to top the mobile game chart by having the most amounts of users for two months in a row.


According to the big data analytics solution mobile index published by IGAWorks in July “Top 50 Game Application” software development company Niantic’s “Pokemon Go” had the most amounts of monthly active users in Google Play Store, Apple’s App Store, and One Store combined with total of over 2 million users.

Second in the list, “Roblox” had 1.397 million users which was 600 thousand users short and third on the list was “Brawl Stars” from Supercell had 1.21 million users which was 800 thousand users short compare to “Pokemon Go.”

Riot Games’ “League of legend: Teamfight Tactics” which was ranked fourth had 1.16 million users, Neowiz’s “GoStop: Card-Playing game” was ranked fifth with total of 1.04 million users, and “Cookie Run Kingdom” by Neowiz placed sixth with total of 1.02 million users.

Mobile game “Pokemon Go” successfully topped the chart in June with total of 1.87 million users, and guarded its place in July as well. In June “Roblox” was ranked second with total of 1.36 million users which was 500 thousand users short, “Brawl Stars” ranked third with total of 1.22 users and was 600 thousand users short compare to “Pokemon Go”

According to the data collected in February of 2022, “Pokemon Go” only had about 910 thousand users which is about half of “Roblox” users, 1.71 million users. However due to the release of SPC Samlip’s “Pokemon Bread” the game sky rocketed and became very popular. Originally Pokemon Bread was released back in the late 90s, however it was discontinued and now they are manufacturing it again. Release of “Pokemon Bread” caused supply shortage and was sold in total of 75 million packages as of August 9.

Users of mobile game “Pokemon Go” shows continuous growth through five consecutive months, starting in March, 1.10 million users, in April it increased up to 1.26 million users, and in May total of 1.49 million users played the game.

As of the Sales Ranking in between games NCSOFT’s “Lineage M” topped the chart, Lion Heart Studio’s “ODIN: Balhala Rising decided to withdraw “ was ranked second, Kakao Game’s “Uma Musume Pretty Derby” was ranked third, NCSOFT’s “Lineage w” was ranked fourth which is two steps lower than its previous rank.
