SEOUL, Feb. 21 (Yonhap) - At 4:50 a.m. on Monday, a fisherman found a Pacific white-sided dolphin accidentally caught in a net and died in the sea near Dongsan Port in Yangyang County and reported it to Sokcho Coast Guard.
This whale, which was unintentionally caught in a net, is about 245 centimeters long, 117 centimeters around, and weighs about 80 kilograms. The Coast Guard has issued a confirmation of whale disposal to the fishermen in question as no signs of illegal capture were found.
So far this year, a total of seven whales have been caught in the Sokcho Coast Guard area.
Last year, 37 whales were caught unintentionally in the sea.
