SEOUL, Jan. 20 (Yonhap) – Writer Jung Eun-hye, who starred as South Korean actress Han Ji-min’s older sister “Young-hee” in the tvN drama “Our Blues,” has been reaching out to Swedish models with Down syndrome.

The Korea Foundation (KF) released a video titled “Actor Jung Eun-hye with a Swedish Model with Down Syndrome” on Friday, introducing the “ICON-Photo Exhibition on the Right to Exist” on its official YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/TheKoreaFoundation).

The Exhibition illustrates the step-by-step process of the workshop the Swedish Glada Hudik Theatre held under the theme of “Definition of Beauty,” where an able-bodied actor and an intellectually disabled actor joined hands to perform.

The exhibited photos deliver the message that protecting one’s dignity in life is a basic human right that every human being is entitled to, regardless of one’s disability, and that everyone can try hard to live one’s dream. The messages are illustrated through lively self-expression and active participation of Down syndrome models.

In cooperation with the Swedish Embassy in Korea, the KF is holding a photo exhibition on the second floor of the KF Gallery, located at the Mirae Asset Center One Building in Seoul, its official website, and also on its official social media spaces, until Feb. 9.

The YouTube video was uploaded to share details on the exhibition through the eyes of Actress Jung and her father, Filmmaker Seo Dong-il; the Actress made herself known as a caricature writer with Down syndrome, and also an actress who appeared in the South Korean drama series “Our Blues” and a documentary film titled “Your Face.”

Actor Jung and her father visited the exhibition hall on Jan. 4 to delve into the photos that share and capture the dreams and hopes of the 21 Swedish models with Down syndrome. After looking around the exhibition, the Actress mentioned “Saint-Yulia,” and Filmmaker Seo picked “Mother-Tina” as their favorite photo.

The Actress said that she wanted to draw the Saint Julia of her own, and while looking at the work of “Prima Ballerina-Ida,” she looked back to her childhood when she enjoyed doing ballet. Actress Jung also took photos at the photo zone set up in the exhibition hall.

The video told a vivid story from the perspective of an actress with Down syndrome, who is also an iconic artist who is living the dream of many Swedish models with Down syndrome.

The KF and the Swedish Embassy in Korea will be hosting the ICON-Right of Existence talk at the Gallery at 4 p.m. on Feb. 2, inviting parents with children with Down syndrome and also officials from non-profit organizations for the disabled.

The event will serve as an opportunity to ponder and evaluate the domestic system and policies for the disabled, and the venues or events that may raise the public awareness related to the disabled.
