SEOUL, Aug. 11 (Yonhap) -- Boy band, BTS’s new song “Permission to Dance” has ranked 27th on Billboard Main Single Chart on its 4th week since release.
The song, released on Aug. 9, has dropped 18 ranks from its place a week before (9th) on Billboard Main Single Chart ‘Hot 100,’ according to Billboard news on the 10th (local time).
The song, just after its release, pushed down BTS’s former song “Butter” and took 1st place instead on Hot 100.
On the second and third weeks, it returned its top rank back to “Butter,” but was still popular staying in top 10 places and has been keeping high scores for almost one month since release.
BTS recently has been doing a ‘Permission to Dance’ challenge with YouTube Shorts which became a hot issue with the joining of England’s legendary singer Elton John.
The name Elton John appears in the song’s lyrics, “When it all seems like it’s wrong/ Just sing along to Elton John.” John replied to BTS by uploading a post on Twitter and joining their challenge.
In the meanwhile, “Butter” which secured top rank on Hot 100 for 9 weeks in total gave its place to “Stay” by pop star Justin Bieber and rookie rapper The Kid LAROI this week.
But “Butter” kept 1st place for 8 consecutive weeks on America’s “Song of the Summer” which ranks songs by adding up the times of streaming, radio broadcast and the amount of music sales from Memorial Day (May. 30) to Labor Day (Sep. 30).
