SEOUL, July 28 (Yonhap) -- Jang Gyuri, a member of the girl group fromis_9, will be leaving the group.
Pledis Enterainment announced on Thursday through the global fan community platform, Weverse that Jang Gyuri will leave fromis_9 and terminate the contract on July 31.
fromis_9 plans to reorganize the group with 8 members and continue their activities.
Apart from Jang Gyuri, the 8 members of fromis_9 has decided to continue working with Pledis Entertainment by signing a new exclusive contract on August 2021.
On the other hand, Jang Gyuri did not sign a new contract and kept the original contract terms signed with her previous agency. Meanwhile, Pledis Entertainment has been supporting Jang Gyuri's team and individual activities.
"The decision was made after a long time of consideration and discussion about what would be best for both sides," Pledis Entertainment said. "We hope you'd send endless support and love to Jang Gyuri who did all her best."
Fromis 9 was formed in 2017 through Mnet's survival audition program "Idol School." Representative songs include "Stay This Way" and "Talk & Talk."
