SEOUL, May 20 (Yonhap) -- Gaming company Nexon announced on Friday that it will contribute to society by helping deaf children and teens with the users of its online game MapleStory.
The campaign, hosted by Nexon Foundation and the Snail of Love, aims for a long-term goal, such as developing the educational content for disabled children to adapt well to society.
The program will replace the existing cochlear implant support devices and produce teaching tools for rehabilitation training.
As part of the campaign, Nexon launched the "Sharing Project of the Rock Spirit” event on May 19th in which users can automatically participate in the social contribution program when purchasing "happiness has accumulated" (translated) hat items from MapleStory.
The hat, which can replace a device for one hearing-impaired child and a teenager every time 10,000 units are purchased, sold out two hours after the campaign started.
Nexon announced to reopen the event and the items until June 1st.
In 2018, which marks the 15th anniversary of the MapleStory service, Nexon hosted the "Pink Bean Sharing Project" to help 15 deaf children operate on cochlear implants and rehabilitate their language.
