'2022 K-Festival' to kick off in New Zealand on September 10

SEOUL September 2 (Yonhap) -- “2022 K-Festival” which will be showcasing diverse South Korean culture will kick off in Henderson Auckland in New Zealand on September 10 announced K-festival committee on Friday.

Theme of the festival will be “Happy Together” which encompasses positive meaning related to overcoming the difficult challenged caused by Covid-19.

“2022 K-festival” will kick off with the “K-chef show.” Chefs from Korean restaurants throughout New Zealand will come together to cook not only Korean fusion dishes but also traditional dishes such as Bulgogi, Galbi and divers desserts a well.

Visitors will be able to taste chefs’ dishes while listening to stories related to the dish. Dishes showcased throughout the festival will be added as an official dish at their restaurant to continue on its advertisement for better public awareness throughout not only compatriot society but also throughout people who live in New Zealand in general.

Throughout the festival sight over 20 different parlors will be offering visitors with casual Korean foods such as fried chicken, fish cakes, tteokbokki and more.

Moreover, the festival will feature “K-Drama” stage where South Korean artist Jeremy Yoon, Anna Jun and more artist will perform original soundtracks from Korean drama such as “Squid Game,” “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God,” “Parasite” and more.

Adding on to the list of things activities, “2022 K-Festival” will feature “K-drama Exhibition” where they introduce signature scenes from Korean dramas such as “Squid Game,”0 “Parasite,” “Guardian: The Lonley and Great God” and more through photo zone. Also the “K-drama Exhibition” will feature a section where visitors can dine and try out Korean food in pojangmacha, also known as cart bar which is often seen throughout Korean dramas.

The highlight of the “K-Festival” will be the “K-pop Performance” stage where K-pop artist Ineffa Lucas, and more will take the stage and perform not only Korean traditional tracks but also K-pop as well.

“2022 K-Festival” is supported by South Korean embassy in New Zealand and Korean compatriot society.
