SEOUL, June 15 (Yonhap) -- Donghae City, Gangwon Province, announced on Wednesday that it will be holding the "Lavender Meeting Day" program for visitors from June 17 till 19 at Geumgokho Jandi Park in Mureung Byeolyucheonji, the city's representative tourist destination.
Mureung Byeolyucheonji is a place was an abandoned limestone mine has been restored into a unique complex experience tourism site with natural scenery and activity experience facilities.
The city has created a lavender garden with a total size of 13,000 shares on an area of 20,000 square meters in Mureung byeolyucheonji, and with the flowers in full bloom these days, it is like the whole world has turned into a purple world.
Therefore, visitors of Mureung byeolyucheonji for the month of June will be able to see the lavender full of its purple scent.
On the day of meeting with the lavender, there will be programs arranged for various age groups, including street performances, face painting, and flower pot making.
The city expects tourists and citizens to get away from their daily lives and enjoy a time full of freedom and fun while smelling the scent of lavender.
"I hope that many citizens and tourists will visit Mureung Byeolyucheonji in June, which is a good season for outing, to enjoy the experience facilities and the purple-scented lavender garden," said Yoon Hee-jeong, head of the future strategy department.
