SEOUL, August 16 (Yonhap) -- Sinan county, South Jeolla province announced on Tuesday that it will be promoting the designation of registered cultural properties in three places, including Daeri Village of Gageo-do, where the original shape of the wall is well-preserved, along with Goran, Docho-myeon and Yeri Village of Uido.
Gageo-do is an island located in the southernmost part of Korea, where the purity of the ancient times is well preserved.
Most of the walls are on the inner road of the village, and is a cultural heritage that shows the village's transformation and island culture.
Uidori, Docho-myeon, is regarded as a treasure trove of island culture archetypes, as even the docks of the Joseon Dynasty still remain.
Particularly, Yeri, which has been hollowed for a while, has been evaluated as a village that has its original archetype of the island well preserved.
The county explained that the walls of Goran village, Docho-myeon, has a unique feature as well.
Registered cultural properties are cultural properties which are designated to preserve cultural resources with outstanding preservation and utilization value among modern cultural heritages.
Since 2015, Sinan county has been intensively conducting an investigation to preserve and restore villages, private houses, and fences in islands where the archetype of the island is well preserved.
"I will put all my energy into designating the place as a registered cultural property by proving the wisdom and value of the people in the island that is shown through the walls," said Park Woo-ryang, governor of Sinan county.
