SEOUL September 13 (Yonhap) -- South Korean pianist Kim Jun-hyung placed second at the 71st ARD International Music Competition Munich.
According to the Kumho Cultural Foundation on September 12, pianist Kim Jun-hyung placed second at the ARD International Music Competition Munich which was held in between September 3 and September 11 (German Time).
After graduating from the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts he moved to Germany while he was enrolled in Seoul Arts High School and received his bachelors degree and Master’s degree at Hochschule Fur Musik und Theater Munchen.
Pianist Kim Jun-hyung debuted through Kumho Prodigy Concert in 2012 then continued on with his career through United States, Denmark, France, Germany by hosting a solo concert, and collaborated with Munchener Kammerorchester at Konzerthaus Berlin.
Pianist Kim Jun-hyun was ranked sixth in Sendai International Music Competition in 2019, and won the Seoul International Music Competition in 2021.
ARD International Music competition Munich where pianist Kim Jun-hyung placed second ㅇis German’s most well known music competition which originated in 1952 and there are over 21 segments where classical performers compete with one another.
2022 ARD International Music Competition featured artists in four different categories starting in Flue, Trombone, String Quartet and Piano.
South Korean flutist Kim Yu-been won the ARD International Music competition under flute segment for the first time as South Korean on September 7.
Throughout the ARD International Music competition South Korean conductor Chung Myung-whun was awarded second in 1973 and pianist Sohn Jeung-beum won the competition in 2017.
