Seoul December 27 (Yonhap) -- From the movie “The Accidental Detective,” to drama series “Desperate Mr. X” one of the key aspect that cannot be separated from South Korean actor Kwon Sang-woo is comic.
Hopping in and out of Silver Screen and Tv, South Korean actor Kwon Sang-woo provides great laughter throughout the upcoming movie “Switch” where the actor plays a role of famous movie star Park Gang, who gets his entire life switched with his manager.
Actor Kwon Sang-woo who participated in an interview at a café in Jongno district Seoul on Tuesday, addressed “When I was first introduced with the script I thought it was very funny. I was very confident that there was nobody that I can think of who was more suitable for the role than myself.”
“I personally think Comedy is a genre that I am very confident in, It’s so much fun to make people laugh by doing so I feel very happy. Sometimes I wonder if I am showing too much of comedic actions, however I think I have done most of the cool roles when I was much younger, and I have confidence that I am capable of showcasing various roles to the audience therefore it doesn’t matter what kind of role I get.” announced actor Kwon Sang-woo throughout his interview.
Park Gang, acted by Kwon Sang-woo acted out throughout the movie “Switch” is a famous movie star character who is always getting in trouble due to uncountable amount of scandals. Despite of his flamboyant lifestyle he feels sadness and emptiness which causes him to suffer insomniac.
“If there is someone like Park Gang, instead of giving advices I would try to avoid engaging in a conversation with someone like that,” adding “However I think Park Gang is a very lonely character.” Actor Kwon Sang-woo chuckled throughout his interview.
Moreover, actor addressed “To others, I might give out the vibe of famous successful actor, with everything, however, due to work I am often times separated from my family. I think Park Gang feels the same way that I do. Despite of the flamboyant lifestyle, there is an emptiness within us that cannot be filled. When looking at Park Gang, I thought ‘ I think his actions are based from his loneliness,’ therefore I was able to relate to the character while acting out Park Gang.”
Kwon Sang-woo who hit his career high during 2003 with the movie “My Tutor Friend,” and “Once Upon a Time in High School,” drama series “Stairway to Heaven” and more addressed “The script might have exaggerated a little bit in order to provide more entertainment to audiences, however it is not all lies and made up stories,” adding “Some might have thought of me as Park Gang in the movie.”
Protagonist Park Gang, who gets on a odd looking taxi on the night of Christmas Eve gets his entire life flipped and become a father figure of two kids who is married to his first love.
“This movie made me think of my father who has passed away,” adding “I cried while watching the movie on the advance screening event.” addressed actor Kwon Sang-woo throughout his interview.
As a father of two children Kwon Sang-woo addressed “I would like to show the movie to my kids, I think it will provide great example of how I feel about them as a father.” adding “Kids are the ones who fuel my motivation.”
Kwon Sang-woo is a middle age South Korean actor who has been working within the field for 23 years.
“I think the time has passed so fast, When I think about how one day nobody will give a call or ask for me to participate in the production I feel like I get more motivated and act out every role of every production with passion.” addressed Kwon Sang-woo throughout his interview.
Moreover, actor addressed “I think I am at my happiest moment when I am sitting at the production site waiting and preparing for my next scene, therefore my goal is to participate in as many production as possible.”
South Korean movie “Switch” will be premiering on January 4, and it will be the first South Korean movie to be premiering in 2023.
