SEOUL, July 24 (Yonhap) -- Superband BTS will appear on SBS's flagship news program, "SBS Eight o'clock News."

"BTS will visit the SBS headquarters news studio today and talk with anchor Kim Yong-tae," SBS TV announced on Saturday. This is the second time for BTS to appear on the SBS 8 o'clock News since 2018.

The seven members of BTS will express their thoughts on the group's recent list of achievements such as replacing one of their hit songs "Butter" with "Permission to Dance" at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

BTS is also expected to talk about the group's plans for future activities amid the novel COVID-19 outbreak as well as deliver their gratitude to global fandom, ARMY.

The K-pop sensation has recently remained atop Billboard's main singles chart for seven straight weeks with summer bop "Butter." The boy band's No.1 streak ended after BTS replaced "Butter" with its latest English number "Permission to Dance," also topping Billboard's Artist 100 chart.

In addition, President Moon Jae-in appointed BTS as his "special presidential envoy for future generations and culture," and the members are scheduled to attend the 76th session of the U.N. General Assembly held in September.

The "SBS 8 o'clock News" featuring BTS will start later than 8 p.m. due to the Tokyo Olympics.
