SEOUL December 3 (Yonhap) -- “The genre of series I love to participate is the one that demonstrates the reality, the ones with just right amount of action, so that I can participate in a creation where the series is a depiction of real life. That is what I think the biggest differences are between Hong Kong movies and American action thriller genre movies.” addressed director Kang Yoon-sung throughout the press conference held at Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore on December 1 after the “APA Disney Content Showcase.”
Director Kang Yoon-sung known for his work with “The Outlaw” in 2017 has returned with Disney Plus’ series “Big Bet.”
“Big Bet” which is personally written by director Kang Yoon-sung is about a guy who was known as the king of casino falls in to endless pit of doom therefore returns to the table where he plays the game with his life on the line.
“I started off the process of production by talking to people who actually own the casino in the Philippines,” adding “I worked very hard to create a scenario where viewers will believe such things might happen in real life as well.” addressed director Kang throughout the press conference. Moreover director conducted the production of the production in the Philippines for three months in order to showcase realistic aspect throughout the series.
South Korean actor Choi Min-sik who is returning to the drama scene in 25 years will act out the protagonist Cha Mu-sik.
Actor Son Seok-koo known for his roles in “My Liberation Notes,” will act out a police officer Oh Seung-hoon who is stationed in Philippines. Actor Lee Dong-whi will act out as Jeong-pal and Heo Sung-tae will act out Seo Tae-seok to stands on the other side from Cha Mu-sik.

“I have always considered actor Choi Min-sik to be my role model, as expected as the production of the series continued on I fell deeper for actor Choi Min-sik.” addressed actor Lee Dong-hwi.
Moreover, actor Lee Dong-hwi continued on by stating“He is very lovely person, however he is very charismatic. Throughout the production he showcased how actor should be therefore I have come to a realization what my path as an actor should be in the future,” adding “I participated in the production under constant shock of how charismatic and veteran he is when it comes down to acting.”
“In my first audition as an actor I showcased actor Choi Min-sik’s lines within the movie ‘Old Boy’” adding “I have managed to meet him in person throughout the production of ‘Big Bet’ when Choi Min-sik called out my name, the emotional rush I felt still feels like it happened few minutes ago.” addressed actor Heo Sung-tae throughout the press conference.

The first season of “Big Bet” will premiere on December 21, and the second season will be released within the first half of 2023.
