SEOUL, Nov. 18 (Yonhap) -- “If the character I played in 'Princess Hours' was like a green apple, the one I play in this drama is like a ripe mango—soft and juicy, yet refreshing and not overwhelming.”

Actor Joo Ji-hoon returns to romantic comedy 18 years after his debut drama "Princess Hours."

At the press conference for tvN’s new drama "Love Your Enemy" held on the 18th in Guro-gu, Seoul, Joo said, “I hope viewers feel as comfortable as eating tangerines while lying on an electric blanket on a cold winter day. I want to give you the warm, cozy feeling of a hot pack.”

Love Your Enemy is a romantic comedy about Seok Ji-won and Yoon Ji-won, born on the same day into families that have been rivals for generations. They meet again 18 years later, leading to a story filled with twists and turns.

Joo Ji-hoon plays Seok Ji-won, the chairman of Dokmok High School, while Jung Yu-mi stars as Yoon Ji-won, a physical education teacher at the same school. The two characters, who had feelings for each other as teenagers but parted ways painfully, reunite at age 36, rekindling old emotions.

“My character tries to hide his feelings, but meeting Yoon Ji-won brings out a childlike side of him,” Joo said, adding that it’s his most comedic role yet. “I got hit a lot by her in the drama,” he joked.

Both Joo Ji-hoon and Jung Yu-mi are returning to romantic comedy after a long hiatus. Joo returns after 18 years, and Jung after 10 years since Discovery of Romance in 2014.

Jung shared, “Since Joo Ji-hoon often plays intense characters in films, I found him intimidating at first. But as we filmed, I realized how fun and relaxed his acting is. Sometimes, his ad-libs were even cute.”

The drama also features notable supporting characters, including Gong Moon-soo (played by Lee Si-woo), a student teacher who has a crush on Yoon Ji-won, and Cha Ji-hye (played by Kim Ye-won), a math teacher who secretly loves Seok Ji-won.

Kim Ye-won explained, “My character sees Yoon Ji-won as a friend but harbors feelings for Seok Ji-won. Her cold demeanor adds tension to their dynamic, so I hope viewers watch to see how that unfolds.”

The creative team includes director Park Joon-hwa (What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, Alchemy of Souls) and writer Lim Ye-jin, co-writer of Love in the Moonlight.

Director Park expressed confidence in handling the romance genre, stating, “We worked to make the drama lighthearted and enjoyable, offering a healing experience for viewers. Personally, I loved that it evokes nostalgic memories of one’s younger days. The two leads’ journey will remind viewers of their inner innocence.”

The cast echoed this sentiment, noting that the playful quarrels between the two protagonists are sure to bring back memories of youthful days.

Joo Ji-hoon concluded, “Everyone has a pure, youthful side within them. Watching these two, viewers might feel both amusement and a sense of nostalgia.”

Jung Yu-mi added, “As the weather gets colder, I hope this drama brings warmth to everyone during its run.”

The first episode airs on November 23 at 9:20 PM.
