◇ J-HOPE releases single album
J-Hope of K-pop supergroup BTS dropped his first formal solo album on Friday.
"Jack in the Box," which was uploaded onto music services at 1 p.m., is also the first-ever official solo album from the septet, which recently announced a new chapter of its career with a focus on individual projects.
Big Hit Music, the group's agency, said "Jack in the Box" is the name of a children's toy where a clown or jester pops out of the box when it is opened. The title represents J-Hope's aspirations to break the mold and grow further, it added.

As J-Hope revealed a week ago, the album's tracklist includes 10 songs: "Intro," "Pandora's Box," "MORE," "STOP," "=," "Music Box : Reflection," "What if…," "Safety Zone," "Future" and "Arson."
J-HOPE’s title song “More," which was pre-released on July 1, entered “Hot 100” chart at No.82, announced official SNS of Billboard chart on Monday(local time).

◇ Extraordinary Attorney Woo receives global attention
ENA Wendesday-Thursday drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” ranked No.1 in most watched drama in Neflix’s non-English Drama category.
The drama has accumulated a total viewing time of 23.95 million hours until second week of July (July 4 to July 10), topping Netflix’s non-English Drama category, according to ‘Netflix Top 10’, an official website that reveals Neflix’s viewing time, on Thursday.
“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” revolves around a rookie lawyer named Woo Young-woo, who has an autism spectrum disorder, solving various cases in her own unique style after joining law firm.
The drama has been receiving positive reviews from its audiences by portraying autistic layer Woo Young-woo and her surrounding characters much better than their previous series.

It also topped Netflix's latest weekly viewership chart of non-English TV shows, the global video streaming service said Wednesday.
From Wednesday, a total of 31 languages were additionally supported in European and South American countries, raising expectations for global success.

◇ 'Squid Game' wins 14 nominations at Emmys
The survival drama "Squid Game" earned 14 nominations including best drama series at this year's Primetime Emmy Awards, becoming the first South Korean TV show to compete at America's biggest honor for the broadcasting industry.
The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on Tuesday (U.S. time) unveiled the final list of nominations for the 2022 Emmys awarded to best primetime TV programs from June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022.

"Squid Game," a Korean-language Netflix original series, was up for 14 prizes, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Lee Jung-jae), Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Jung Ho-yeon), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Oh Yeong-su and Park Hae-soo), Outstanding Directing and Writing For a Drama Series (Hwang Dong-hyuk) and Outstanding Guest Actress In a Drama Series (Lee You-mi).
"Squid Game" is the first South Korean-made content to be included in the final list of nominees for Primetime Emmy Awards, one of the four major American awards for performing arts and entertainment.
It is also the first non-English language series to vie for television's top honor at the Primetime Emmys.

◇'Top Gun: Maverick' surpasses 5 million viewers in S. Korea
"Top Gun: Maverick" which recorded a cumulative viewers of 4.938 million by Wednesday attracted over 60 thousand audiences on Thursday.
Although the performance of “Top Gun: Maverick” struggled and dropped to second place on Korean box office for a week due to the premier of Marvel super hero movie “Thor: Love and Thunder” on July 6, but it has successfully claimed its lead last week showing outstanding performances.
“Top Gun: Maverick” a sequel to the original movie “Top Gun” from 1986 took 36 years to premier and the movie is about a story of a legendary pilot Maverick acted by Tom Cruise, who becomes an instructor of an American naval fighter pilot training academy.
“Thor: Love and Thunder” which premiered on July 6 surpassed “Top Gun: Maverick” which premiered in June 22 for a week in South Korean box office, however, “Top Gun: Maverick” took back the lead in July 12 returning back to the top of South Korean box office.
According to the reservation rate on Friday at 8:30 a.m. “Top Gun: Maverick” was leading with the record of 33.4 percent were as “Thor: Love and Thunder” was sitting at 18.0 percent.
