SEOUL, Sept. 4 (Yonhap) -- The music video for BTS’ megahit "Dynamite" has surpassed 2 billion views on YouTube, the group’s agency BigHit Music said Thursday.
The video passed the milestone at around 9:16 a.m. the same day, about five years after its release on Aug. 21, 2020. It had reached 1.9 billion views nine months ago.
It is the first BTS music video to hit 2 billion views.
"Dynamite," a disco-pop track performed in English, propelled BTS to become the first K-pop act to top the Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed for three consecutive weeks.
The hit also won major awards, including Best Song at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards and Top Selling Song at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. In Japan, it earned a Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association for surpassing 500 million streams in record time.
