SEOUL, Feb. 21 (Yonhap) – S. Korean singer Young Tak, who recently released the new song “Wanna go get some abalone,” will perform as an ambassador for abalone of Wando-gun in South Jeolla Province.
Young Tak has been appointed as “Wando Abalone Ambassador” by Wando County on Feb. 18, according to the agency Milagro on Monday.
“Wanna go get some abalone,” composed by Young Tak and composer Ji Kwang-min, is a pop trot song that features humorous lyrics.
The song begins with the lyrics "Let's go eat abalone / Take the West Coast Expressway / To the sea in front of Wando." Wando County, which noticed that the Wando ocean and abalone were naturally promoted, offered the singer for the position of an ambassador.
Young Tak said, "While thinking of putting seafood that I like in the title of the song, I finally chose abalone because it is delicious,” adding, “I hope this song can increase the consumption of abalone and help fishermen.”
The staff from Wando-gun said, "Thanks to the title and lyrics, “Wando” and “Abalone” are naturally promoted and it is expected to revitalize the abalone industry and tourism of our county."
Young Tak made himself known by winning the second place in TV Chosun’s “Mr. Trot.
The singer, who has performed as both singer and composer, drew attention by releasing songs, such as “Why Are You Coming Out From There(translated),” “Jjin-iya,” and “Nuna You’re Perfect(translated).” He also participated in producing Jang Min-ho’s “Read and Ignored” and Jung Dong-won’s “Hit It Off.”
