SEOUL March 15 (Yonhap) -- "Boss, look at Min-ah. She's a chicken. No? She's a chicken nugget. She's a chicken nugget, but fried and seasoned." "Stop!"
This dialogue is a snippet from episode 2 of the Netflix original series "Chicken Nugget," released on the 15th, between the two main characters, Baek-joong (played by Ahn Jae-hong) and Choi Seon-man (played by Ryu Seung-ryong).
The drama revolves around the efforts of Choi Seon-man, Min-ah's father, and Baek-joong, an intern at Seon-man's company who secretly loves Min-ah, to restore Min-ah, who has been transformed into a chicken nuggets. It's a setting that induces laughter with its absurdity.
One day, Min-ah holds a box of chicken nuggets and goes to her father Seon-man's small company, 'All Machines.' While Seon-man is in the restroom, she talks with Baek-joong and notices a machine in the corner.
This machine, resembling a purple cabinet, caught Baek-joong's eye as he brought it in on his way to work that day. It's just the right size for a person to enter.
Baek-joong thinks of this machine as a 'machine to relieve fatigue' sent by a client. While Min-ah is being briefed about the machine, she casually says, "I only slept for seventeen hours yesterday, so I'm tired," and steps into the machine, closing the door behind her.

As Baek-joong looks on, he accidentally drops the chicken nugget he was holding onto the floor. Upon seeing this, Min-ah inadvertently exclaims, "Oh? Chicken Nugget!" At that moment, the inside of the machine fills with smoke, and Min-ah disappears, leaving only a piece of chicken nugget behind.
Baek-joong, who witnesses Min-ah turning into chicken nugget, explains this unbelievable fact to Seon-man, who has just returned from the restroom. The two then investigate the identity of the mysterious machine to restore Min-ah amidst confusion.
Based on the webtoon of the same name, 'Chicken Nugget' offers unpredictable fun and laughter with its unimaginable and absurd setting.
The contrast between Seon-man, who might lose his beloved, and Baek-joong's desperate feelings and ludicrous situations sometimes provoke chuckles and sometimes uproarious laughter.
Seon-man and Baek-joong, returning after a brief absence, find another employee (played by Kim Nam-hee) back at her desk. However, they can't find the chicken nugget that was on the table, and they mistakenly believe that Min-ah, who turned into chicken nugget, has been eaten, leading to lamentation.

Fortunately, Min-ah, who became chicken nugget, was mixed with other pieces of chicken nuggets in the refrigerator by the employee's hand. To determine which piece is Min-ah, Seon-man and Baek-joong go to the restaurant where Min-ah bought the chicken nugget.
Seon-man and Baek-joong try to meet the owner of the chicken nugget restaurant to ask, "Please see if there's anything different about the chicken nugget served here," but they are chased away by suspicious people. During this process, the chicken nugget from the box spills and mixes with the chicken nugget being eaten by the customers.
Seon-man and Baek-joong hurriedly pick up the pieces of chicken nugget. Seeing a child nibbling on a piece of chicken nugget, they feel devastated and burst into tears as if the sky had fallen.
The absurd setting of 'Chicken nugget,' which immerses viewers as if it were real, is further enhanced by the acting skills of Ryu Seung-ryong and Ahn Jae-hong.
The drama begins with a scene of Baek-joong humming on his way to work, wearing yellow pants, a pink shirt, and a blue vest. Ahn Jae-hong portrays Baek-joong's comical attire, awkward dance moves, strange singing, and clumsy behavior.
Ryu Seung-ryong takes on the role of Seon-man, a playful character who jokes with his employees. He displays his unique cheerful acting style, switching between a polite and straightforward tone to occasionally blurting out unexpected curses, eliciting laughter.
The dialogue between Seon-man and Baek-joong reflects the humor sense of director Lee Byung-hun, who led the success of the movie 'Extreme Job.' The script of this drama was written by the director himself.

Some dialogues not only provoke laughter but also help viewers easily understand why characters behave in certain ways, adding to the enjoyment.
For instance, a scene in episode 1 where they discuss whether to report this to the police is representative. Seon-man asks, "You're a policeman. If someone's daughter turned into chicken nugget, what would you do?" and Baek-joong replies, "I'll kindly cut it off."
Additionally, the choice of a short mid-form format, around 30 minutes per episode, acts as an advantage. Even when combined into a 10-episode series, viewers can binge-watch it in just five hours, making it easily accessible for viewers who may find longer videos burdensome.
