SEOUL, Mar. 31 (Yonhap) -- The Gunggeorang Cherry Blossom Festival, organized by the Ulsan Jeil Ilbo and sponsored by Ulsan Nam-gu, will be held along the city’s ecological stream for two days from April 1.
The festival’s opening ceremony is organized to be held at 7:10 p.m. (KST), featuring seven invited singers, including Kang Hye-yeon, who gained domestic recognition for appearing in TV Chosun’s singing competition show “Miss Trot.”
Prior to the ceremony, seven teams from the Samho-dong Community Center and the District Symphony Orchestra will also be performing on the stage. The second and last day of the festival will also feature several performance groups, including the Munsu Youth Center, Ulsan Forest Love Movement, and Taehwang Art Troupe, showcasing diverse performances ranging from hip-hop to dance, acoustic to folk songs.
A Gunggeorang Love Whale will be floating along the Samho Gopchang Street, where booths that sell crafts and have hanboks ready for visitors to wear will be stationed. Food markets and trucks will also be standing along the street.
“The Gunggeorang Cherry Blossom Festival, where a long cherry blossom street will be welcoming visitors, will return after four years of the global COVID-19 pandemic,” an official from the festival announced.
