SEOUL, Feb. 22 (Yonhap) - The Independence Hall of Korea has announced on Wednesday that it will hold the 104th Anniversary of the Korea March 1st Independence Movement in Plaza of the Nation on March 1.
The event, which will be held under the theme of "Samiljeol, which is participated and celebrated by the whole nation," will be held from 10 a.m. on the same day, with 1,919 honorary independence activists selected at the request of the general public.
It will be followed by a variety of events, including a performance by the Cheonan City Heungtaryeong Pungmul Group, a chorus and musical by the YouTube channel "Smiling Kids" team, and a performance by the Army honor guard.
There will also be independence movement-themed events such as boarding a "C-47 transport plane" that Korean government officials rode back home after liberation, special exhibition commentary on the theme of the Taegeukgi, costume experience of the Liberation Army, hill ringing in the Unification Salt Garden, and making the Taegeukgi pinwheel.
A special planning exhibition "Everyone’s Treasure in the Box" will also be held, allowing you to meet 70 major pieces donated over the past three years in the special planning exhibition room.
The main exhibition materials include a diary of Kwak Han-so (1882-1927) who was a Confucian scholar at the end of the Joseon Dynasty, which contains the process of his teacher Choi Ik-hyun’s death to funeral, (1882-1927) and library lend book from the library in Hanseong prison that Lee Sang-jae (1850-1927) ran, and diary of Ji Jeongcheon, who was a supreme commander of Korean Liberation Army.
At the 4th exhibition hall, realistic video content “Echo of Peace” will also be released for the first time. You can feel and experience the meaning and value of the independence movement through interactive video content based on four-sided projection mapping that runs from ceiling to floor under the motif of Mugunghwa, tiger, and light.
Han Si-joon, head of the Independence Hall of Korea, said, "I hope that the commemorative event that the people participate and create together will be a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the historical meaning of the Korea March 1st Independence Movement."
