SEOUL, Aug. 19 (Yonhap) -- "I was drawn to the clear characters and the distinct narrative of the story. It felt genuine, with a strong sense of realism," said actress Shin Min-a during the online production presentation of the upcoming tvN romantic comedy drama "No Gain No Love" on the 19th.
The series, set to premiere on the 26th, centers on a woman who arranges a fake wedding to avoid any losses and a man who becomes the fake groom due to his inability to say no.
Shin Min-a, 40, takes on the role of Son Hae-young, a pragmatic office worker who carefully weighs the pros and cons of even her romantic relationships. She described her character as calculated but also bold and lovable, noting, "Hae-young is the type of character you'd want to have around—a refreshing and candid presence."

To fully embody Hae-young's boldness, Shin Min-a embraced the challenge of delivering lines with a mix of high-energy dialogue and occasional profanity. "I was drawn to the script's straightforward and audacious tone, and I found Hae-young's dialogue particularly refreshing," she said. "Although I haven't often used such language in my roles, I enjoyed it more than I expected."
Joining her as the fake groom, Kim Ji-wook, is actor Kim Young-dae, 28. Ji-wook is portrayed as a civic-minded night shift worker at a convenience store who is known as a neighborhood hero. Despite the 12-year age gap, Kim Young-dae praised the script's realism and Shin Min-a's presence, sharing, "I was immediately interested in the project, especially knowing I'd be working with Shin Min-a, someone whose work I've admired since high school. On set, she wasn't just Shin Min-a; she became Son Hae-young."
Reflecting on his role, Kim Young-dae added, "I've played many non-ordinary characters, like top stars or royalty, but this time, I appreciated the chance to play someone you could easily observe in daily life."
Director Kim Jung-sik introduced the drama as a piece where "each character is alive, and the realistic relationships between them are a highlight." He revealed that he was so taken by the script that he decided to take on the project despite initially planning to take a break. "The writer wanted to make people laugh, and I believe they've succeeded," he confidently stated.
"No Gain No Love," a joint project by tvN and TVING, will air every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m. KST on tvN, with new episodes also available on TVING.
