SEOUL, Sept. 6 (Yonhap) -- Lee Seung-min (24), a South Korean professional golfer suffering from autistic development disorder, failed to advance to the Korn Ferry Tour, the second part of the PGA Tour.

Lee finished 50th with a total of 6-over par 222 strokes in the qualifying round of the PGA Korn Ferry Tour held in Palm Springs, California, for three days from Sept. 1.

The 24-year-old golfer who did not get through the qualifying school of the competitive PGA tour, will return to Korea later this month, according to his management company YG Sports on Monday.

Lee became a member of the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) in 2017, and passed the cut at the DB Insurance Promy Open, a regular KPGA Korean Tour competition, in 2018.

Over the years, the golfer has challenged to advance in China and Japan's professional golf competitions, and most recently attempted the second part of the PGA Tour.

Previously, Lee expressed his determination to "challenge myself in order to support players like me all over the world."

After returning to Korea, Lee is planning to qualify for the KPGA Srixon Tour. In October, the golfer will prepare to play as the recommended player for KPGA Korean Tour KEB Hana Bank Invitational.
