SEOUL October 27 (Yonhap) -- Event where people can take a night stole around the former presidential office and the surrounding while enjoying the cultural heritage and performance offered throughout the area, will be held on the last week of October.
Seoul Jongno-gu and the Cultural Heritage Administration will jointly hold the Jongno-gu Cultural Heritage Night Trip from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for two days from October 28 to 29.
Night walk will be hosted under the theme of “former presidential office, night where the stars shine bright” within the grounds of former presidential office, and “Colorful Night walk” which will be held west of the Kyungbokgung (Kyungbok palace) called Seochon, which translates to west of village.
400 of the participants selected by drawing of lots will participate at the night walk which will kick off with the opening of the door by the royal guards at 6:30 p.m. later on visitors will be guided throughout the former presidential office and participate in classical and Korean traditional music concerts, media art exhibition and more.
At the helipad of the former presidential office visitors will be able to try out the Korean traditional tea while listening to the story telling show.
Moreover, night walk program which will be held in Seochon where everyone can participate freely, will feature a in depth walk through of the town with guide explaining the lifestyle and the history related to the town with hints of modern interpretation of the area because Seochon used to be highly populated with traders, doctors and numerous artists.
Near Tongin Traditional Market brass band and fusion traditional bands will perform. Also there will be a media art exhibition and performance of Korean traditional instrument daegum will happen at the Park No Soo Art Museum.
“It will be a memorable experience, where visitors will be able to enjoy the night walk with cool night breeze of the fall while experiencing the cultural heritage and art.” adding “I hope a lot of people will take interest in many events happening at the former presidential office which is now open to public in 74 years.” addressed Jung Moon-hun, the mayor of the Jongno District.
