SEOUL, October 31 (Yonhap) -- The total number of tourists in Guam accumulated from October 2021 to September 2022 was recorded at 216,000 people, up 250% from the previous year, the Guam Visitors Bureau announced on October 31.

Among them, the number of Korean visitors increased by 5,000% on this year to 108,000, accounting for 50% of all visitors.

The Guam Visitors Bureau is speeding up preparations for various promotions under the theme of "Color of Guam," a campaign designed to show Guam's new charm, which is not well known to travelers as well as famous tourist attractions.

Park Ji-hoon, the Korean branch manager of the Guam Visitors Bureau, said, "We will put in our best effort in order to recover to the pre-pandemic level," and added, "We are planning to make moves for marketing projects such as developing visitor sites and expanding flight routes to Guam, following the needs of visitors."

Meanwhile, the Guam Visitors Bureau recently attended the 2022 Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) annual general meeting held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and discussed ways to cooperate with tourism industry figures from each country on the subject of sustainability.
