World Class golfer Lydia Ko, marries Chung Joon son of VP Chung Tae-young

SEOUL December 31 (Yonhap) -- Top female golfer in the world, New Zealand Korean Lydia Ko got married to Chung Joon, a son of the vice president of Hyundai Card on December 30 at Myungdong Cathedral.

Lydia Ko who is known to have dated Chung Joon since 2021, addressed their plans to get married on December of 2022 in June.

Lydia Ko who had successfully debuted as a professional golfer in 2013 successfully won 19 of the LPGA tours, and for the major tournaments she won the “Evian Championship” in 2015 and ANA inspiration in 2016.

2022 LPGA tour which ended in November, Lydia Ko won three of the championships including the CME group tour champion ship and received in total of over 4.63 million dollars. Continuing on she received, player of the year, and various awards, also she claimed her throne as the number one player in the world in over 5 years.

Professional Golfer Lydia Ko, who was born in South Korea but later on moved to New Zealand in 2003 received silver medal in 2016 at the Olympic held in Rio De Janeiro, and in 2021 Tokyo Olympic, she received bronze medal.
Husband of Lydia Ko, Chung Joon, graduated from Claremont McKenna College and works at the corporate body of Hyundai Motors located in San Francisco.

When Lydia Ko won the CME group tour champion ship, Chung Joon, visited Tiburon Golf Club in Florida which was where the match took place an celebrated alongside her with her grand win.

Father of Chung Joon, vice president Chung Tae-young is a son in law of well known business figure Chung Mong-koo of Hyundai Motors.

Chung Tae-young worked as the representative of Hyundai Card, Hyundai Capital, Hyundai Commercial and later on became the vice president on 2015.

On the day of the wedding, Chung Mong-joon, representative of Asan Foundation, Chung Euisun, CEO of Hyundai motors, and all of the family members of Hyundai got together. Moreover one of many sponsors of Lydia Ko, Hana Financial Group’s CEO Ham Young-joo participated at the wedding. Also fellow golfers such as Park In-bee and more visited the scene.
