SEOUL March 21 (Yonhap) -- “When drinking with Park Sung-kwang he suddenly addressed that his dream is to be a film director in the future, therefore I thought he was just too drunk to think straight. Therefore I let his opinion slide, however his dream and image of creating a movie became the reality.” addressed during the interview regarding the upcoming movie “Woong Nam” which took place at a small café in Jongno district, Seoul on March 20. Actor also stated that the word Woong within the title of the movie “Woong Nam” is from his name “Park Sung-woong” while addressing “I remember Park Sung-kwang’s ambition 10 years ago.”
Moreover, actor addressed “When I first read the scrip there were a lot of parts to be reviewed, therefore I asked Sung-kwang to look through the script together. Also Sung-kwang addressed that he has received a lot of investment, and I felt like it would be interesting to participate in the movie. It was hard for me to decide upon my decision to participate in the production however I know I will do my best despite of the production and Sung-kwang is a good friend of mine therefore I decided to work on the production.”
Movie “Woong Nam” depicts a story of two bears who have become human after eating garlic and warmwood for 100 days. Park Sung-woong acted out both of the brothers throughout the movie. Although two of the protagonist characters are born as a twin brother, however since they grew up in a polar opposite environment, they meet once again as a police officer and a member of an international crime cartel.
Actor Park Sung-woong addressed that he watched and tried to learn a lot about bears actions and habits in order to act out the figure.
Given the background that both of the figures are 25 years old, actor Park Sung-woong addressed “Most of the bears live up to 40 years, therefore 25 in bear’s life is equal to about 50 in human life,” adding “The movie is based on the genre of fantasy, is it not ok for me to be 25 but it is ok for bears to become a human?”
Continuing on actor stated “I have been through the age of 25, therefore I thought it would be ok for me to recreate that innocent memory and thoughts,” adding “I have received a lot of help from actress Lee Yi-kyung who acted out Protagonist’s best friend throughout the movie.”
South Korean actor Park Sung-woong participated in various action scenes where he even went under water to catch a fish.
“Despite of how important my role are I act with my life on the line,” adding “I think that is what I can do best for the fans and for audiences, also I am a good swimmer, therefore I wasn’t hesitant about acting under water, however I have drank a lot more water than I ever expected. Throughout the production of the movie I have added swimming in to a list of things I don’t want to do” actor chuckled while addressing his thoughts on the production of upcoming movie “Woong Nam.”
Director Park Sung-kwang of the movie “Woong Nam” is more widely known as a South Korean comedian, however due to his set image, he addressed that he struggles to break free from his set image.
“I am not prejudice towards anything,” adding “When I first heard about Sung-kwang’s thoughts on wanting to become a director I told him, that all he needed to do was to prove himself right through movie.” addressed actor Park Sung-woong throughout his interview.
Moreover, actor addressed “Even if we have prejudice, we are proving ourselves with things we do and final products we come up with, therefore all he has to do is get positive feedback as a film director from his audiences with his movie. Also throughout the production one of the most important thing for director is to make actors and actress comfortable with the production site, Park Sung-kwang was a clever director in that sort of sense.”
However he also addressed “To director Park Sung-kwang I carefully addressed that he should not incorporate comedic traits he used to participate in back when he was a comedian into the movie scene.”
“Comedic acting is very different from comedians skits, therefore I told him he needs to keep that kind of differences in mind before getting into the production of the movie, also we went through a lot of various discussions as production proceeded.” addressed actor Park Sung-woong throughout his interview.
As for the result of the movie actor stated “From the day I received the draft of the scenario, I think the actual movie came out 400 to 500 percent better, I feel like Park Sung-kwang will be able to engage in his second movie,” showcasing his satisfaction towards the outcome of the movie.
On top of actor Park Sung-woong, actor Lee Yi-kyung, Choi Min-soo, Yum Hye-ran, Oh Dal-su participated in the production. Park Sung-woong stated “I feel like director Park Sung-kwang is blessed with a lot of connections,” adding “Yum Hye-ran is a very well known actress and due to her role in global sensation ‘The Glory,’ she is receiving a lot of fame, also actor Lee Yi-kyung is more popular and Hotter in various ways. Since the movie is premiering when participating actors and actresses are receiving a lot of fame helps a lot.”
Continuing on Park Sung-woong stated “Movie ‘Woong Nam’ depicts a heartwarming stories about a family,” adding “I hope a lot of audiences will enjoy the movie and see my interesting and never seen side throughout the screening.”
