SEOUL, Oct. 27 (Yonhap) -- The fantasy romance drama "Red Sky," starring Kim Yoo-jung and Ahn Hyo-seop, successfully came to an end with a happily ever after.
The finale episode of SBS' Monday-Tuesday drama "Red Sky" aired at 10 p.m. the previous day and recorded 10.4 percent in viewership, the highest ratings achieved by the historical drama, according to ratings company Nielsen Korea.
In the final episode, Hong Chun-ki (Kim Yoo-jung), a painter who was born blind due to a curse by the Demon King, succeeds in completing her royal services and seals the demon.
Ha Ram (Ahn Hyo-seop), who falls in love with Hong Chun-ki, escapes from the demon and is depicted as a married couple with Hong five years later. Over time, the curse of the demon is lifted and Hong's vision returns to normal.

"Red Sky" is a historical fantasy drama based on a novel of the same title by Jung Eun-gwol. The story follows the romance between the Joseon's only female painter with spiritual powers and a blind astronomer.
The drama is regarded to have revived the popularity of historical fantasy series that had subsided since SBS' "Joseon Exorcist" was terminated due to controversy over distorting Korean history.
Above all, the occult element of the show differentiated "Red Sky" from existing historical romance dramas. While some pointed out the drama's use of computer graphics (CG) to be excessive at first, these criticisms later subsided as the audiences gradually immersed themselves into the story.
Kim, who appeared in a number of historical romance series, such as "The Moon Embracing the Sun" and "Love In the Moonlight," once again showed her true value as the so-called "historical drama goddess" by working with Ahn as a sweet yet sorrowful lover.
However, as the drama mainly focused on the love story between Hong Chun-ki and Ha-ram, the narrative on Joseon's only female artist was relatively insufficient.
