SEOUL, December 15 (Yonhap) -- Talented actors Kim Hyun-joo, Park Hee-soon, and Kim Moo-yeol worked together in SBS's new Monday and Tuesday drama, "Trolley."
The three people noticed the audience about the release of the deep drama depicting characters in confusion during the press conference held online on Thursday.
The story line of the drama unfolds as the secret of the lawmaker's wife gets revealed to the world, and depicts the dilemma and the choices made by the married couple.
The drama will show characters in confusion and running into conflicts with choices that have no correct answer, like the title given by the crew, "Mystery Dilemma Melo."
Actress Kim Hyun-joo will play Kim Hye-ju, the wife of a member of the national assembly who runs a book repair shop; Park Hee-soon will play Nam Joong-do, who is about to run for a third term; and Kim Moo-yeol will play Jang Woo-jae, the senior assistant of Nam Joong-do.The script is written by Ryub Bo-ri, who wrote "Do You Like Brahms?" (2020), showing specific inner thoughts of the characters.
The title is adapted from "The Trolley Dilemma." A "trolley dilemma" refers to a situation when the trolley will crash into five people and kill them when it continues running on the current rail road, and it will kill one person when it changes the track.
In the highlight video released on Thursday, the daughter of Kim Hye-joo and Nam Joong-do asks, "What would you do if the person on the other track is someone you love?" hinting at a dilemma that would be placed in front of the characters in the drama.
Producer Kim Moon-kyo, who is in charge of directing, said, "It is the story of people at a crossroads of choice," adding, "It contains the story of secrets floating on the surface in the aftermath of a big incident in the couple's daily lives."
"It's not an exciting and enjoyable story, but I think there should be some dramas that inform people that there are people who are going through such tough situations, which will comfort them," he said.
The cast of the drama showed their excitement of the drama discussing about the charms of their character.
Kim Hyun-joo said, "I get attracted to characters who are tough inside," and continued, "Hye-joo seems like a soft-hearted person, but she has her own strength inside."
"It felt like I was reading a mystery novel when I was reading the script. "I decided to join this drama because I was curious about how Hye-joo would get through this fog (mystery)," she explained.
The drama enhances the fun of the story through the professions of the member of the national assembly and the senior assistant. Park Hee-soon and Kim Moo-yeol will be working together for the third time after their movies "The Scam" (2009) and "Money Bag" (2018).
Park Hee-soon talked about his character Nam Joong-do: "He loves his family, and he shows his professional side as a politician."
Kim Moo-yeol talked about his character, Jang Woo-jae, the senior assistant: "He has a desire to make a better world and has strong trust in Nam Joong-do."
The drama will be premiered on December 19, 10 p.m.
