SEOUL January 18 (Yonhap) -- "I hope through KBS’ upcoming special segment featuring the concert of S.Korean rock band Song Gol Mae a lot of generation will be introduced to various music genres. South Korean rock band Song gol Mae which was formed based on the vocal Bae Cheol-soo from Runway. Three years later in 1982 member of S.Korean rock band Black Tetra’s member Gu Chang-mo and Kim Jung-seon joined the band as it skyrocketed to its fame.
Song Gol Mae which released widely loved tracks such as “Met You by Chance,” “Rainwater,” “Gather Around,” “Love All,” and more throughout 1980s.
The title track of Song Gol Mae’s second full length album “Met You by chance,” released in 1982 topped KBS’ “K-pop Top 10” for five consecutive weeks.
Song Gol Mae went into a hiatus after their release of group’s ninth album. Leader Bae Cheol-soo of the group started his radio segment called MBC FM “Bae Cheol-soo’s music camp” solidifying his grounds as widely loved radio jockey.
After 32 years since the release of the group’s ninth album and 28 years since Gu Chang-mo dropped out of the band in 1984 Song Gol Mae have re grouped themselves in order to perform a show at KSPO Dome in seoul. Legendary South Korean rock group Song Gol Mae has once again took the stage as whole.
With their skillful vocal and technique both Gu Chang-mo and Bae Cheol-soo have successfully performed their show, and starting with the show in Seoul, the group went on a domestic tour featuring shows in Busan, Daegu, Gwangju and more getting numbers of fans hyped.
“The excitement and joy I felt throughout the performance outweighed at least ten times more than the excitement I felt when I first in to my first love,” adding “I have to say the excitement that I felt was about at 200 percent and the nervousness I experience was also up at 200 percent to a point where I don’t really recall how I got up on stage and performed.” Member of the group Gu Chang-mo addressed throughout the press conference.
Shortly after Bae Cheol-soo addressed “I was worried because not only the stage was too big but also there were so many seats we had to fill, however, thanks to our fans, we were star struck when we saw the fully packed arena,” adding “I describe my experience throughout the last couple months of 2022 as just pure happiness.”
On January 21 at 9:20 p.m. KBS 2TV will be premiering a special segment featuring the Song Gol Mae’s concert which happened in Goyang city in celebration of the lunar new year. Song gol mae will be showcasing their well loved tracks, “Met You by Chance,” “Rainwater,” “Gather Around,” “Love All,” and more throughout the segment.
Actor Lee Sun-kyun known for performing Song gol mae’s track throughout the drama series “My Mister,” member of K-pop super group EXO’s Suho known for remaking Song Gol Mae’s track “Love All” South Korean band Kiha and the faces who have been deeply influenced by Song Gol Mae have collaborated throughout the concert.
KBS, which had huge success with their holliday special featuring South Korean singer Na Hoon-A continues to produce holiday specials featuring famous stars such as Lim Young-woong, Sim Soo-bong and more.
