SEOUL, July 21 (Yonhap) -- Singer and actress Choi Sooyoung is appointed as '2022 Sharing Ambassador' for the Korea National Council on Social Welfare.
Appointment Ceremony was held to assign Choi Sooyoung as the ambassador for sharing culture, announced the council on Thursday.
Choi Sooyoung said, “I am delighted and honored to be serving as sharing ambassador for Korea National Council on Social Welfare, which has a long history and tradition.”
Chairman Seo Sang-mok said, “I am very happy that Choi Sooyoung, a singer and actor loved globally, has been appointed as the ambassador,” adding, “We ask that you take active action so that more people participate in sharing.”
According to the council, the number of registered social welfare volunteers exceeded 8.93 million last year, and they linked about 490,000 cases of senior care services and 62,000 cases of mentoring to support underprivileged youth.
Also, through the food bank project, KRW 240 billion of food and daily necessities were donated and distributed to 15,000 social welfare facilities and 320,000 individuals last year. 1.1 billion won was also provided to the underprivileged through the "Sharing Love One Person One account" project.
