SEOUL, Jan. 25 (Yonhap) -- Singer and actor Choi Si-won is appointed as UNICEF’s “Next Generation” leader according to UNICEF Korea, on Tuesday.
Choi, who is UNICEF’s Regional Ambassador for East Asia and Pacific, will participate in solving problems such as the climate crisis, digital inequality, and mental health in the future.
Choi is the only one in Asia to be named "Next Generation." In addition to Choi, Victoria Edwards (USA), Thiago Figueiredo (Brazil, Portugal), Melissa Cesana Grahales (Colombia, UK), Natasha Muller (UK), Magnus Roussing (Sweden), Matteo Jebi (Italy), and Dr. Emily Watts (USA), a psychiatrist, were selected.
Choi said, "It's an honor and at the same time, my shoulders seem to be getting heavier," adding, "I believe that even if it’s small, it will be a great help to change the world." "I will work harder for UNICEF and children," he said.
