SEOUL, April 19 (Yonhap) -- The "Songkran Music Festival," where one can enjoy the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) with cool water will be held in South Korea for the first time.
According to the festival organizer, BEPCTangent Creative on the 19th, the "Songkran Music Festival S2O" will be held in South Korea for two days on the 9th and 10th of July at Seoul Land, Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province.
Songkran is a water festival in Thailand that is held for about 10 days to commemorate the first day of the new year on the basis of the Thai calendar.
The "Songkran Music Festival," based on this, is famous for using about 1 million liters of water to show a variety of special effects along with the world-class EDM musicians attending the festival.
Apart from Thailand, the festival was also held in Japan, Taiwan, China and many more countries with about 300,000 people participating each year. However, this is the first time being held in South Korea.
"As much as it is the first large EDM festival to be held since the COVID-19 pandemic that has lasted for over two years, this festival is a must for those who wants to enjoy the heat of the festival." An official from the festival organizer said.
The organizers plan to hold the event with a capacity of 25,000 people per day. The specific number of people and how it will be proceeded will be later announced in consideration of the quarantine rules.
